UWL Drinking Habits Survey

Marketing Research Project

During my junior year at UWL my group and I designed a survey that highlighted some of the habits that students participate in by asking just a few simple questions. We also made sure to analyze the data so that it was easier to understand for the class. This project taught me how to format a survey so that people will answer more personal questions as well as going through data to make sure it is meaningful.

Designing A Market Plan

Marketing Principles Project

One of the projects that I worked on here at UWL was coming up with a new or existing product to set up a marketing plan for. Our group decided to come up with a new product and figure out an efficient way to build awareness of our product and a way to sell it that will assist us in building a loyal customer base. We decided to look into creating a virtual learning aid and sell that to schools while encouraging them to come back. This used a variety of skills that included creativity, team skills, as well as goal setting to come up with a reasonable product where the initial goals are possible.

Evaluating Foreign Economic Development

Economic Development Project

In one of my Economic classes that I took at UWL we had to pick a topic that relates to the development of a country or countries. In the start of the semester we started out by researching topics that were more broad for overall development of a country. Throughout the semester we were required to narrow down the area that we were researching. In the end we were focusing on the middle eastern countries that continuing to develop their market sectors.

Problem Solving in The Workplace

Bartender

During my time at the restaurant that I worked at when I would bartend, a lot of the other staff would come up to me with a lot of questions regarding pricing, seating, or other issues that were had when the manager was not present. This taught me a lot of skills that involved thinking on my feet to find a reasonable solution as well as how to best represent our restaurant while keeping staff happy. One of the bigger issues was with a coworker that had a very short temper and for some reason myself and tables were the only people she would take it out on, but when the manager wasn’t there, I had to step up a lot to make sure everyone there was happy with their experience.

SALES COMPETITIONS

Server/ Bartender

I worked at a restaurant and every weekend at my serving and bartending jobs we would have weekend specials, the goals on the weekends would be to see who could sell the most specials and the winner would get free food. In my first summer there I won almost every single time I worked. I also hit some of the highest sales at the restaurant because I could handle the workload as well as sell the specials. When I came back from school the following year the standard for the minimum number of specials sold was lower because no one else could hit the amount needed the year before. The job has helped me learn how to talk to customers in a way that makes them feel as though they can trust me enough when I try to upsell, while also forming relationships with clients.
